A  walled garden, restored alongside the barn and tended by hand. Framed by rolling Devon countryside and old meadow.

Ancient walls, climbing roses and open sky.

walled garden

The walled garden is a working, growing, living thing. Roses, peonies, wisteria and hydrangea fill the borders, with fig trees and climbing clematis against the old stone walls. It is where most ceremonies happen, and it is easy to see why.

Built in 15th Century, lovingly restored.

Two sides enclosed by ancient stone, two sides open to the Devon meadow beyond. At its heart sits a 15th-century stone archway, a perfect frame for photographs.

The gardens

Through the seasons

Spring

Wisteria and clematis come into their own, with the first of the apple blossom.

Summer

Roses, hydrangea and pink elderflower in full bloom.

Autumn

The borders soften and the figs ripen, the stone walls holding the last of the warmth.

Winter

The stone walls come into their own, and the structure of the garden really shows.

What the gardens are for.

Ceremonies, drinks and canapés, or a place just to relax.

A Note from our Gardener

"We don't need to dress the gardens for weddings. We tend them all year, and let each day find them as they are."
